How to Change the Email Linked to a Form on Squarespace

One of the most common issues I see with Squarespace websites — especially when clients take over a DIY build or when a designer hands over a finished site — is forgetting to update the email address linked to a form.

This is the email that receives notifications when someone submits a form on your site — whether it’s a contact form, enquiry form, or booking request. If it’s set to the wrong email, you could be missing out on leads.

Here’s how to make sure your forms are sending submissions to the right place.

Why It Happens

When you or a designer first add a form block to a page, Squarespace automatically assigns the form submission email to whoever created it. So if a designer builds the site for you and forgets to update it, their email may still be connected — not yours.

If you're building the site yourself, you may have started with a personal email, but now want to switch to a professional one. Either way, it's a simple fix.

How to Change the Form Submission Email

Let’s walk through it step by step.

1. Locate the Form

On your page, scroll to the section that contains your form — for example, a "Contact" or "Start Your Project" area.

2. Open the Form Editor

There are two ways to access the form settings:

  • Click once on the form and then click the edit pencil icon.

  • Or double-click directly on the form block.

Either method will bring up the form settings panel.

3. Go to the Storage Tab

  • In the form settings panel, click the “Storage” tab.

  • Here, you’ll see the Email Notification section.

4. Update the Email Address

  • Click on the current email.

  • Replace it with the correct email address you want submissions sent to.

  • Click off the field, and Squarespace will automatically save it.Wait for the spinning icon to disappear — that’s how you know the new email has been saved successfully.

Things to Know

  • Only one email can be linked to a form at a time (hopefully Squarespace updates this in the future).

  • The default email is always the one associated with the person who created the form block.

  • If you’re a designer handing off a site, make sure to change all form emails to the client’s address before launch.

Final Thoughts

It’s a small detail, but an important one — and often overlooked. Whether you’re handing off a site or managing it yourself, checking your form emails ensures that no messages go missing.
